Can you…
A little bit about the opportunity…
Located in the heart of London’s iconic West End, Soho is a buzzing hub of nightlife, creativity, and queer culture. Famous for its theatres, bars, and LGBTQIA+ venues, it draws a diverse, international crowd from morning to late night. With its rich history and high footfall, Soho offers the perfect mix of energy, visibility, and opportunity—especially for those passionate about working in an inclusive, community-led hospitality space.
The Duke of Wellington is a cornerstone of Soho’s LGBTQIA+ scene. Set over two floors on vibrant Wardour Street, it’s a proudly wet-led pub with a loyal following, known for its strong, welcoming vibe and consistent trade. The ground-floor bar keeps things classic and convivial, while the upstairs hosts community events, themed nights, and cultural celebrations. Add in its lively seasonal terrace, and the Duke isn’t just a pub—it’s a safe, social space for connection, celebration, and belonging in the heart of queer London.
A little bit about you...
We’re looking for a passionate, community-driven General Manager to lead the Duke of Wellington—an iconic LGBTQIA+ venue in the heart of Soho. You’ll bring a deep understanding of queer culture and a genuine dedication to creating an inclusive, welcoming space for all. This role needs a hands-on leader who can build strong relationships with regulars, champion local partnerships, and lead a proud, motivated team. You’ll be the heart of the venue—balancing tradition with fresh thinking to keep the Duke relevant, vibrant, and loved by every generation of guests.
Operationally, you’ll need to thrive in a high-volume, wet-led environment with sharp commercial instincts—managing stock, staffing, and compliance with ease. You’ll drive footfall through smart sales strategies, creative events, and standout service—especially during the busy summer season and key LGBTQIA+ calendar moments. From programming upstairs events to boosting midweek trade and return visits, you’ll use every tool at your disposal to grow the business while protecting what makes the Duke a pillar of queer London.
